Hello,

We’d like to share with you our plans for MoneyWiz in 2016.
First off…

A Mission Statement

MoneyWiz is the most advanced personal finance software on the market. We’ve spent years developing and refining the algorithms that define how MoneyWiz works for you.
Over the past year we’ve dedicated much of our time in making MoneyWiz more suitable for people who do casual personal financing. Now it’s time to focus on adding more powerful features.

For that reason, starting this year we’ll dedicate our efforts in making MoneyWiz more powerful rather than simplifying it. What that means for you is that you should expect more advanced features coming into MoneyWiz this year. We won’t compromise on ease of use, but for those of you who do more than just casual cashflow monitoring, there will be plenty of new features we think you will love.

Coming soon in MoneyWiz 2

Since we’re nearing the release of MoneyWiz 2 for Windows, we can now focus on some long awaited features. As recently announced, we’re finalizing a great update (2.3) with improved transaction entry, new reports, redesigned categories management and other great features.
There are several more features we want to implement before moving on to MoneyWiz 3. Those are major features we’ve promised to be delivered in MoneyWiz 2 and we intend to keep that promise.

Tags, Receipts Sync and Investment Accounts – we’ll release all that under a 2.5 update. Hopefully in June. Once that’s done we’ll focus on bug fixes andperformance improvements.

FYI Receipts Sync will initially start with Dropbox and Amazon Cloud Drive and we’ll perhaps add Google Drive and iCloud in the future.

There are other, smaller features that will make it in MoneyWiz 2, but we’ll focus on them after delivering Tags and Investment Accounts.

MoneyWiz 3

We hope to release MoneyWiz 3 in Q1 2017.
A few things we plan to focus on in MoneyWiz 3:

  • New design
  • Day and Night themes for iOS
  • Support for multiple users/databases/documents
  • GPS integration for Payees
  • Goals functionality (Income Budgets)
  • Background sync (both SYNCbits and Online Banking)
  • Smart notifications for Online Banking accounts (for example – Notify me when a specific payment arrives, or when a transaction exceeds $100 etc)
  • Integrations with other software products and platforms
  • Pro Features on iOS (such as advanced reconcile, bulk editing, spreadsheet view on iPad etc)
  • New Dashboard widgets
  • Multi-line transactions (expenses & incomes in the same transaction)
  • Reimburse functionality
  • Grouping of scheduled transactions
  • Ability to set fiscal year

As usual, we’ll keep you posted for any changes or delays and we welcome your feedback at [email protected]

No word on Windows edition. Sad.

    • Hi Jorge,

We mentioned about the Windows edition in our previous blogpost…
Anyways – we’re hoping for a February release. Currently the only thing left to complete is the Reports section. We also have some bugs which our team is working on.

  • Looking forward to background sync and smart notifications. Well done guys.

  • What about receipt image sync between devices?

    • Hi Juan,

We’re considering a few options about that and our desire is to do this in MoneyWiz 2 so that people can easily migrate receipts to MoneyWiz 3.

  • Come on guys, still no export to QIF? We want a REAL backup format, not CSV. QIF is the financial standard. This is absurd.

    Reply
    • Hi Jeff,

QIF is not a standard actually. It’s a file format someone at Intuit thought of creating but they did a terrible job at it and now even Quicken, their own product, doesn’t properly support it. Because it’s not a standartized format by any means.
So QIF export is not something we plan to support in MoneyWiz 2, but we’ll consider it for MoneyWiz 3 if enough many people vote for it. You can put it as an official feature request in our forums, sub-forum Feature Requests.

    • Hi Julio,

We’ve already made a lot of changes for material design. If you think we’re missing something please let me know…
As for the date picker – noted. Indeed we forgot that one. I just logged it to the dev team…

      • Today I feel a kind of disappointed ..got an update and in the update comments it says “improvements and some UI improvements such as material design dialogs, date pickers and more”…so I ask WHAT exactly did you do with the date picker??? For me it is exactly the same old Android 2.2 look??? Not changed at all???

        Reply
  • All of this sounds good… but I would also like to see an addition to the scheduling feature. Instead of having a scheduled bill end after a set number of repeats, could you add a date picker, so that we can choose a particular date to end that bill on? This would especially be useful for loans, where there is a set end date. So, instead of ending a scheduled expense after say, 20 repeats, have it end on 2016/06/28?

    • Hi Jason,

We have this on our to-do list… it’s basically just another way of representing the same data, but we realize that some people prefer it this way and we’ll do it in a future update.

      Reply
  • Also, in the reports/forecast section, it would be useful to be able to edit a payment/income from there, versus having to tap out two or three menus, going back into scheduled, and editing the payment, then going back into reports/forecast to see how things changed. Would like to see and edit it directly from the reports section of possible.

    • Hi Jason,

Editing a transaction via the reports section is possible since MoneyWiz 2.0…
If it doesn’t work for you maybe there is a bug you are experiencing, in which case please email our support at [email protected]

      Thanks.

  • I wish income/expense payees management worked more like category management. Sometimes I want to streamline the payees list to eliminate duplicates etc. It would be quite handy to have a delete and integrate feature like in category management.

    thx

    Reply
    • Hi Emanuel,

We have it on our to do list to make merge payee functionality, just like in categories management.
In the meantime one way to easily do it is via MoneyWiz for Mac. Just search all accounts for the old payee name, select all transactions with it and edit them (Mac supports bulk edit) and set the new Payee. Then delete the old payee.

  • Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t notice anything about Investment Accounts. You’ve been promising Investment Accounts for years. As recently as last Fall, you “we’re planning” Investment Account Support by end of 2015 or early 2016. It is difficult to consider MW “advanced” (your claim), when it doesn’t handle investment accounts.

SycBits is truly best in class synchronization, but I am still using MW in parallel with iBank, because I pay some larger tax related bills out of my investment account, and I regularly make transfers between my investment account and other accounts.

Is investment account suppor still in your plan for “early 2016”?

    Reply
    • Hi Paul,

We announced it right in this blogpost – Investments will come in 2.5. Right now we’re about to release 2.3 then 2.4 with Tags and then 2.5 with Investment accounts. I know it’s been delayed a lot but we had more pressing issues to deal with, first + the fact that back in 2015 MoneyWiz for Windows was still nowhere near being finished and now that it is it allows us to focus on these features such as invesment accounts.

      Reply
      • Thank you for that clarification. Apparently I did miss it. Sorry about that. I understand investment accounts support is challenging to do, especially for 401k’s. When you get there it will be a tremendous benefit.

    • Hi Julio,

If you are using Android 2.2 you can’t install MoneyWiz 2 let alone the latest update… are you still using MoneyWiz 1 by any chance?
MoneyWiz 2 has minimum OS requirement of Android 4 (Jelly Bean).

      Reply
  • Just got an email reply from Moneywiz regarding some of the updates NOT showing. The reason; updates made for Android Lollipop users ONLY !!??
If you ask me, A VERY STRANGE POLICY that they have updates only for the latest version if Android, since we are still millions of users having Kitkat and lower.
    If this is really the policy this should be mentioned in the update notes;
    Updates only for 5+ users

    Reply
    • Julio, the minimum OS requreiements are Android 4 (Jelly Bean), not Android 5 (Lolipop).
So we support everything from Android 4.0 and above which makes up for most of the Android market:
      http://opensignal.com/reports/2015/08/android-fragmentation/

The reason we don’t support older versions of Android is that they are not technically advanced enough for what we offer in MoneyWiz.

      Reply
      • I am using Android 4.4.2 and the updates/improvements DOESN’T show at all and the reply I got from Marina (support) was that the mentioned ui improvements are for Android 5+ ONLY, and the reason for this she say is that the requests you get is only from users with newer Android versions….so I guess my Android Kitkat is an OLDER version right???

        Reply
        • Hi Julio,

Marina was wrong to tell you that. I just made a note to her so she doesn’t make the same mistake again. But as you can see on Google Play if you visit the MoneyWiz page, you will notice that the minimum version requirement is 4.0 not 5.0.
Anyways… the visual representation of native controls depends on your specific Android distribution (i.e. stock android, Sony, Samsung etc), you should keep that in mind!

Now please go to MoneyWiz / Settings / About and see if you are running version 2.2. If you are, and you still believe there are no Visual changes in the date/time picker please send a screenshot because that would be strange as on our end the date pickers are now completely different.

          Reply
        • Julio, I just spoke with the dev team to clear this up.
It turns out that the new dialogs and date picker use API available only on Android 5 and above. So MoneyWiz will continue to work on older versions of Android but the dialogs and date pickers won’t be as pretty as Google introduced the pretty ones in Android 5. If you update to Android 5, MoneyWiz will automatically use the pretty ones though.

    • Hi Waleed,

We offer two payment models for MoneyWiz – one is one time purchase based and the other is subscription based. If you are on the subscription momdel then that’s all you need and MoneyWiz will be free to download on all platforms. But if you are on the one time paid model where you paid for Android, then it will cost separately on Windows.

  • Hi, one feature that would be really great would be the ability to see, each day, which online transactions are newly downloaded. This would make review/category tagging that much more efficient. I’m constantly having to go back a few transactions to make sure it’s been reviewed. What would be really nice would be to be able to have a screen dedicated just to new transactions across all accounts – the user would then review/edit each. One each transaction is reviewed it would no longer be *new*. This would be a killer feature.

    Reply
    • Hi Billy,

Thanks. We want to do this too, but we haven’t decided on the UI approach. The problem with adding a new section (where you can review transactions) is UI…on iOS and Android it’s easy but on Mac we have a static sidebar which has enough content, and adding a new section there may make it feel overcrowded. So we’re still prototyping a few different approaches and most likely we’ll decide on which one to use and implement it in a few months.

really looking forward for this change that will come with MoneyWiz 3
    Does
    >>Support for multiple users/databases/documents<<

means that I can get someone else access to one of my accounts (for example to fill the incomes and expenses) BUT I can keep my other accounts private from that person?

That would be a really cool feature for me.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

    • Hi SGF,

We meant that you will able to quickly switch between different SYNCbits accounts with a single tap instead of entering their credentials every time you want to switch. A lot of our customers use MoneyWiz for both business and personal finances and keep separate SYNCbits accounts for this.
As for sharing of pieces of MoneyWiz data (accounts, budgets etc) between multiple SYNCbits users – it’s something that’s been on our radar for quite a while now and I believe we’ll implement it in MoneyWiz 3 although time may not be enough to implement it for the initial release of MoneyWiz 3. I can’t be sure yet though.

        HI Iliya,

I thought I would to wait till version 3 to be able to have more than one SYBCbits at the same time. Your reply to SGF show me it’s not true and I can have it now.
As I’m not confident about how to do it, could you confirm the steps to get it ? Will It be a new purchase with a new registration to another e-mail address, isn’t it ?
        Thank you once more.

        Reply
        • Hi Eduardo,

Currently you can have multiple SYNCbits accounts, the only downside is switching between them – each switch requires that you log out and log in… for example, if your current SYNCbits account is [email protected] and you wish to use one more ([email protected]) thenn you have to log out of 1, enter the email & pass for 2 and sign in. Then if you want to switch back to 1 you have to again go to Settings / SYNCbits and log out of 2 and enter the email & password for 1.
This is a rather alow procedure which we’ll aim to make fast to allow quick switching.

Well, nothing to say, but only that you make us feel more like partners than your customers !!

The version 3 will be great, I1m sure. Thanks you all

  • Probably just me being stupid but what do you mean by Tags?

    Reply
    • Hi Pete,

Tags (or labels as some people call them) are just another way to categorize data. For example you can have a multiple expenses in different categories with different payees but if they are all related to “summer vacation 2016” you can tag them this way and then quickly find them by this tag. Another example of using tags would be to mark which transactions are tax deductible so you can easily identify them when preparing to file your taxes. One transaction can have multiple tags.

I hope that makes sense now 🙂

  • A good programme. However, one feature which is definitely missing from Moneywiz (and where it suffers in comparison to the old MS Money) is the ability to handle refunds for Expense Categories. For a simple example, I pay a monthly amount for house energy utilities – which I place in an Expense category for Energy. When I occasionally receive a refund for overpayment, I have to place that into an Income category called Energy Refunds, as opposed to being able to place it as a credit for the Energy Expense. Moreover, I can not produce a report containing both expenses and “incomes” for Energy. Thus to calculate my Energy costs over a period, I have to produce 2 separate reports for Expenses and Incomes and use a calculator! Many other more complex categories, e.g. tax!, also require debit and income features.

All accounts have debit (expense) and income columns; surely Expense and Income categories should be able to have the same feature – and appear in MW3. Unless, of course, I have missed an obvious solution! (Negative entries do not work.)

    Keep up the good work.

    Reply
    • Hi Paul,

MoneyWiz can actually handle refunds. This is how to do it – find the original transaction (that is being refunded), tap the Options button in it and then select Refund. You will be able to enter the refund amount and the account it’s being refunded to.

If you are speaking about reimbursements though (where you get reimbursed for something, without necessarily having to attribute that income to one specific existing expense) – we plan to add native reimburse functionality in MoneyWiz 3.

  • And still no shared accounts? This was on the todo for v2 a year ago.

    Reply
    • Hi Dmitriy,

No shared accounts yet…this is a rather complex functionality which we haven’t had the time to do yet, mostly due to the delays of the Windows release and the fact that we’ve spent a lot of time perfecting the Online Banking algorithms. It will come at some point but it will may have to wait until MoneyWiz 3.

  • Hi guys,

I use MoneyWiz because it simply is the best cross-platform app of its kind out there. An I am only talking about iOS + MacOS + Android. However, I still feel that there are significant improvements to be made with UI/UX. More powerful features are fine but it still takes too many “clicks” to enter a transaction. I long for the simplicity and predictive input of the old iXpenseIt. It had a super bad name and I could only use it on my iPhone but transaction input was extremely easy. Any plans to focus on the UI more? Anything in the new planned MoneyWiz 3 that could be addressing these issues?

    Reply
    • Hi Vlad,

MoneyWiz 3 will feature a major redesign (as we usually do with major versions).
Transaction entry in MoneyWiz is extremely fast if you use it properly though. Actually I can honestly say that MoneyWiz beats everyone in that regard. The problem is that it appears most people are not aware of the tricks we offer to enter transactions faster. Since they are too many to describe here, can you tell me how you do transaction entry and why you feel it’s slow, so I can give you a specific advise on how to optimize it?

Also please keep in mind that MoneyWiz 2.3 improves this even more. You won’t have to close the list of accounts/categories when creating a transaction as it will now close itself by default. Also MoneyWiz 2.3 will start moving the focus to the next field once you are finished with one field. Automatically 🙂

  • When will we be able to get reports and budgets etc with income and expenses combined, this would also need the ability to apply income against expenses categories. An example situation would be car fuel. I budget car fuel at £100 for the month, I fill up the car with £120, but get reimbursed expenses from work for fuel at £40. Therefore my cost re fuel is only £80 against a budget of £100. I cannot see anyway where the income received from my employer can be credited to the fuel account. I do not want to apply a refund to the cost of the fuel, as, one, it’s not a refund. and two, the transaction will not show what actually was paid to the payee.

    • Hi Andrew,

Great question. We call this Reimbursements functionality and it will come in MoneyWiz 3 (if we have the time for it we want to do it in MoneyWiz 2 actually, but chances are we won’t have the time for it in MoneyWiz 2). Once we implement this, you will be able to adjust categories the way you mentioned.

You are hoping to release Money wiz 3 at the end of the year. Does that include a Windows version or will the Windows version always be 18 months behind the Mac Version?

    Reply
    • Hi David,

we are hoping that once we release for Windows in several weeks, the Windows project will be able to keep up so we don’t release version 3 with significant delays between the platforms.
In the case of MoneyWiz 2 for Android which was several months behind iOS and Mac, the reason was that MoneyWiz 2 was the first update to dramatically change the software architecture of MoneyWiz and make it more scalable. That took a lot of the development time. Now that it’s done though, all projects move much faster. Just look at MoneyWiz 2 for Android…once we released it’s been able to catch up with the iOS/Mac developments. We have no reason to believe that it will be any different for Windows, so as I said – once we release for Windows, it should be able to quickly catch up and then all 5 versions (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android and Windows) of MoneyWiz should be able to progress simultaneously.

  • What is your intentions for “Grouping of Scheduled Transactions” for MoneyWiz 3.0? My hope is that I could pick an group of many scheduled transactions and have them all pay at once, yet post as individual transactions in my accounts and budgets? That would be an outstanding feature to have. It takes a LOT of taps to get a bunch of scheduled transactions to post at the same time.

    Reply
    • Hi Mike,

This is just one of our intentions 🙂 Mass-pay STs that are grouped. Another cool thing with that would be the ability to see the amount of a group of STs which can be extremely convinient depending on how you group them.

  • “MW 3: Multi-line transactions (expenses & incomes in the same transaction)” Does this mean that credits to expense categories will be back on the table? The absence of this feature, which I use in Quicken, was a major reason for abandoning my switch to MW2. Or will this be limited to entering something like a paycheck transaction with gross income, deductions, and deposit of net?

    Reply
    • Hi Earl,

Credit expenses – we currently offer refunds functionality in MoneyWiz. You can take any expense, tap the Options button and then select Refund. This esentially does what you need – it credits the expense in a way that it all adds up properly in reports, account balances and net worth. So we do have this functionality already. You just don’t access it the way you access it in Quicken (which is by entering the amount with a minus sign).
If your question is whether we’ll allow entering the amount with a minus sign, we don’t plan to do so for now because once people figure out that there is a way to do this, just not by enetering a minus sign, they are OK.
One thing that is missing in this picture is Reimbursements functionality. So for MoneyWiz 3 we’ll either have to do reimbursements or allow minus amounts. We haven’t decided on which one yet though.

As for what we meant by Multi-line transactions – its use would be mostly for paychecks as you suggested, so that people can monitor salary, taxes paid etc..

      Reply
  • I didn’t particularly care if the implementation changed a bit from Q to MW, it was the inability to process (and convert from Q) credit expense transactions. When I tried MW, a credit could only be applied against an existing transaction. There are times when an expense account must be credited when there is no existing transaction against which to apply a “refund”. Real-life examples: I receive direct payment for medical services from the insurer prior to receiving the bill from the medical provider. I sell some used furnishings which were expensed to Furnishings and Fixtures some years ago. I receive a utility refund which exceeds the amount of any single prior bill. I receive a check for CC rewards which is most definitely not “income” but a reduction of CC Fee & Interest expense. I was told that the only solution was to create an “income” account for the sole purpose of receiving that credit.

The multi-line transactions were an issue for me as well but it appears MW plans to resolve that issue.

  • What about include budgets on reports/forecast?
Without that the reports/forecast is completely fake, it not show the real information at all.
How do you guys manage this actually?
Because any kind of math test that you can do for this situation will show that reports/forecast not match a real world situation, if people uses budgets, it’s must be include in any kind of forecast calculation.
The software is great, but without this is a kind useless for future plans, you can’t trust the reports/forecast or you need to create a lot of fake transactions to TRY to do the job.
I bought the previous MW1 and now recently the version 2, unfortunately I’ll look for a new software that have this feature, it’s a must have feature for any serious budget planner.

As for how forecast works – it works based on scheduled transactions currently.

Je pense que MONEYWIZ pourrait avoir une telle “carapace”. Cela serait le top tout en gardant vos nombreuses fonctionnalités.

  • After 3 rather frustrating years with a rival finance management app, paying annual subscription, I finally ran out of patience tolerating the very slow development (18 months to upgrade to v2 which then doesn`t work at all well), bugs, lack of basic functionality & poor development. I am so pleased that this has provoked me into finding MoneyWiz. I spent this week setting up all my accounts & transactions, learning how to use MoneyWiz & I`m just bowled over as to how good the product is. And reading through this blogpost, it`s just really exciting seeing the developments coming up. Who would ever have thought that managing your finances could be this much fun. And great customer service – thank you Pawel for holding my hand & pointing me in the right direction in getting me used to this, in one day you answered me three times, replying within 15 to 45 mins each time, exceptional.
One of the major criticisms I had of my previous provider was unrealistic development timeframes & promises, with upgrades 9 to 18 months after promised, which can only damage their credibility & the confidence of the customer, forcing them to jump ship – looks like you are more aware & realistic with your timescales. Superb product, such a relief to have found you.
Have left a 5* review on the play store which I hope will help attract more people – to benefit them with better management of their finances.

It means we can expect it only for March, am I right ?

        • I believe so, yes. It could be end of February but it’s more likely that we’ll go into March. Given how long the development has taken so far we really prefer to release a more stable version than rush it + as I said we still have to finish the Reports section.

    • Hi Jorge,

We have no such plans for now since a calculator is easily accessible on Mac via the spotlight search which works system wide. You can just type equations into the spotlight search and it calculates them immediately.

Hey and thanks for the new features.

I am asking for other feature.
The ability to use your app in my country.
I live in Israel and they don’t let us buy auto renew subscription in iPhones.
    Can you solve this issue?
This is the main reason I can’t use your app.

    Reply
    • Hi Elad,

All payments are handled by Apple and Google. We don’t handle anything payments related. So if Apple and Google don’t support Israel for recurring subscriptions, unfortunately there is nothing we can do right now.
We plan to work around this in the future, by allowing people to subscribe via our website directly, but that’s not coming so soon. Perhaps when we have a web version of MoneyWiz in a few years.

  • I am glad that the windows version is almost done! I hope future releases won’t take so long 🙂 I have been using MoneyWiz since version 1 and i am still loving the app, and now that the windows version is coming i wil be first in line to buy it. Keep up the hard work!

  • Hi, I think a better way to glance a single transaction will improve this app, especially when there are multiple categories in a single transaction. For example, I pay $50 for dinner, where $40 is “Dinner” and $10 is “Tips”. At the moment I can log this into budget correctly when I enter this expense. However If I click on this expense to see how much of “Dinner” and how much of “Tips” in the future, I can’t see this information! I can only see that this transaction is of “Dinner” and “Tips”. Ideally I would hope the dropdown of the transaction would show something like “Meals” > “Dinner” : $40, “Tips” : $10.

Also, a “Now” button for scheduled transaction and an auto increment expense index may be helpful. For example if I were to schedule myself to purchase a bottle of water every 5th of the Month at 12PM, sometimes I just can’t do it at the time and delays it to maybe 10th of that month at 6pm. When I log this expense from scheduled, by default the date will be 5th/Month 12PM. A ‘Now’ button will make this much easier. Auto increment index can also be helpful. For example if I purchase a $1200 item via financing over 12months, It will be helpful if the title of expense can auto increment from “iPhone Financing 01/12”, “iPhone Financing 02/12” and so on.

    Reply
    • Hi Henry,

About the glance thing – it’s a good idea. I am logging it on our todo list.
The Now button – actually we’re considering to change the logic there and in the above scenario to offer the current date and not the scheduled date.
The auto increment thing – that would not come soon as to cover all possible ways that people will want to use it will take a lot of time and we’re running on a pretty tight schedule.

I’ve been a MoneyWiz user almos since version 0.0….. 🙂
All my home account is made using MoneyWiz and I realy appreciate the increase of funcionalities and user interface.
The last new release 2.3, add some great new features (like P&L) that I’ve welcome.

What about a Apple Watch road map? The actual Watch app is very poor, and it does not sync very well with the iPhone app… it shows, for instance, all payees on an expense transation but it dos not show all categorys (or at least the first ones on the category list)… 🙁

All the best and keep on the good work!

    Reply
    • Hi Antonio,

      Thanks for the feedback.
The watch app not showing all categories, but just the first 9 is intentional actually because the watch is so slow that loading the full lit of categories can take too long to be practical.

We plan to redesign the watch app after finishing with the tags, receipts sync and investment accounts though…it won’t be so soon (several months) but the reality for us is that very few people use Apple Watch so the impact is low, while a lot of people are waiting for tags, receipts sync and investment accounts, so we just want to prioritize on the features that affect more people first, and we’ll then redesign the watch app.

    Saved reports:
The ability to re-order them and maybe use folders.
When a saved report is set using all Payees or All categories, it includes future added payees or cats without the need to remake the report.
When selecting a major category for a report, it includes all subcategories of that category.
    Thanks

  • Hi There Iliya,
I’m a huge fan of what MoneyWiz accomplished in terms of functionality. But one thing that I really miss is a more opened posture with third party developers. I don’t know, but maybe a developer could use a SyncBits API (which already exists, but it’s encrypted of course) to exchange Financial data and integrate it with almost any other existent app. Is there something going towards this direction for 2016 plans?

    Reply
    • Hi Pedro,

As a matter of fact it is something we’ll be working on soon. This is in our plans:
      1) Open SYNCbits to 3rd party developers in April, with iOS SDK + web API. More SDKs will come on demand.
      2) Integrate MoneyWiz 3 with other products. We don’t have the products list yet as we haven’t decided what will make sense, but it’s somethig we really want to do going forward with MoneyWiz 3 (end of this year or early next).

I’m concerned about the fact tat the only thing needed to decrypt my data is my SyncBits password. Isn’t it far more secure having two passwords, with one used to locally encrypt data before it is sent to your server, thus protecting against a breach of your password database?

    • Hi David,

Having two passwords would make it very inconvenient to log in. We plan to implement optional 2 factor authentication in the future though.

Hi!! Im from Mexico, i’ve been using the app since version 1 and it’s my favorite app for personal finances.
Im excited about Money Wiz 3 next year so i’d like ask for a feature that i’ve been seeing in some personal finances apps here in Mexico… The “Goals” feature. Basically it allows your to set savings or investing goals and calculates how much you’ll need to budget or save to acomplish that goal (plan for vacations, buy a car, a house, electronics, etc) and helps you on keeping track on that goal (weekly, mothly, etc). I think i’d be a great feature because it will actually help you to make a goal oriented budget and transactions, wich is for what i use the app :D!!! Hope you guys could consider it on Money Wiz 3!!!
Sorry for my bad english, Cheers!!!

I have an annual pass for which I had confidence after trying some unique functions. the application has so much potential but has some shortcomings: the home screen, in each operation, you see only the first category of origin and, in reality it would be necessary to read the last subcategory. The icons should be more realistic and maybe you should choose they can be from your device. and the various futures.

    • Hi Terrance,

We seem to be delayed compared to that schedule…we’re planning to wrap up on MoneyWiz 2 development in around a month after the 2.6 release, which would put it somewhere in end of May. Then I think we’ll need at least 3 more months to finalize the MoneyWiz 3 development, so I would expect MoneyWiz 3 no later than Q3 this year.

MoneyWiz 3 is still way ahead given that we are still working on delivering MoneyWiz 2.6 with investment accounts. Once we do that we’ll focus on fixing bugs and once that’s done we’ll focus exclusively on MoneyWiz 3… so our thinking is that MoneyWiz 3 should come in Q3 this year, although historically deadlines haven’t always been met, so who knows, it could be Q4… but I really hope it’s Q3 this year.

Any news on the development of MoneyWiz 3 ? According to the article, it was planned to be released in Q1 2017…It’s almost 1 year late…

Also, can you honestly state that you will be doing a Web version of MW “soon” (like many of your competitors have already done)? Because considering the time it takes to deliver what you commit to deliver, I don’t see the implementation of something that is not a priority happening anytime soon…

    • Hi Mark,

MW 3 development starts end of this month, and when it will finish – I don’t know. We’ll soon make an announcement about it, but I can tell you that MW Premium users will get every MW 3 feature that we’ll be doing, way ahead of the MW3 release for MW Standard customers. We’ll explain everything in a blogpost by the end of this month.

Web version – realistically I don’t see that happening before end of next year.

      Reply
      • It’s no surprise that yet again you are very late with your roadmap…

Could you please once and for all explain (and please be honest) why there is so much inertia in MW development? If it were only the new releases that are suffering delays, it could be understandable, but with very few maintenance releases and no feature additions between major releases, your users are wondering what your programmers actually do during this time???There are options with better value for their money out there…If you want to keep users from adopting competitors’ apps (usually with an aggressive development policy), it’s time you start looking into this…

WM has a great potential, yet sadly it is not dynamic enough, in my opinion…

        Reply
        • Hi Michael,

Actually our plan this time is a little different, to avoid the above outlined issues. We’ll be making a blogpost end of this month or first week of December to outline our plans for development.

As for the delays – they happen mostly because of unforeseen issues. For example, Yodlee or SaltEdge changing something that we need to adjust to, and then fix whatever bugs came up with that, or Yahoo Finance API ceasing operation which took us time to integrate with another provider. Most of the time it’s due to bug fixing related to issues with external partners. Also don’t forget that when we do something we need to do it for iOS, macOS, Windows and Android, so it’s a lot of work.
