Summary

We’re extremely happy to announce that we’ve just released MoneyWiz 2 for Android. As of now, you can download it on Google Play. This includes only the paid version of MoneyWiz. The free (subscription based) version of MoneyWiz will be released next month.

Pricing & Availability

The price is $2.99 for the next 2 weeks so that customers of MoneyWiz 1 can migrate to MoneyWiz 2 for a lesser amount.
We’ll release the free (subscription based) version of MoneyWiz 2 for Android in September.
The price will go to the regular $4.99 at the end of the month.
MoneyWiz 2 is optimized for Android smartphones and tablets, running Android OS 4.0 or higher.

Features

MoneyWiz 2 for Android has more than a 100 new features compared to MoneyWiz 1. If you are already using MoneyWiz 2 for iOS or Mac, you are familiar with the new features (they are the same on Android). If you still want to see the full list of new features, you can do so here:

Roadmap of Updates

Over the next few weeks we’ll focus on fixing any bugs reported to us. Since Google Play allows for rapid updates cycle (because there is no approval process), we plan to submit at least 1 update per week, possibly more.

After that (in September) we’ll focus on:

  • Modify the design to match Android native apps more closely (including material design)
  • Release MoneyWiz 2 Free/Trial
  • Implement Advanced Reconcile for Android

Once we catch up entirely with all these planned changes, we’ll continue with our regular roadmap (which is the same for all platforms) which includes investment accounts, tags, goals functionality and more.

  • Do you plan on releasing Moneywiz 2 for android on the amazon app store? I have several amazon based devices that only accept amazon apps as they do not have google play available.

    • Hi,

We have no immediate plans to release in the Amazon App Store… we did this for MoneyWiz 1 and the hassle with their App Store didn’t justify the sales. If a lot of people request it though, we’ll re-consider.

  • Have just purchased MoneyWiz 2 (currently trying to get SyncBits to bring across my accounts from 1) however missed the part about the free (subscription) based version coming next month. Currently my bank isn’t supported by either of the online providers (have sent requests in several months ago), which version of the app should I use. I thought the paid version was required then a monthly fee for using the online services, didn’t realise you were using a free with subscription based service – where is more information about the differences?

  • What about system requirements? MW1 is quite slow on Galaxy note 3 and often crashes on Galaxy S2. Does it mean that it will be even more difficult to have MW2 working on these devices?

    • Hi Eugene,

MoneyWiz boosts tons of new features that does put some load on resources… so overall I think that if you find MoneyWiz 1 slow on these devices, MoneyWiz 2 will feel slower. You can give it a try and if you don’t like it just get a refund. Make sure NOT to sync with your SYNCbits account before you decide whether you are staying with MoneyWiz 2, because once you sync, the account can’t be used in MoneyWiz 1 anymore.

      • How can I test it without sync? MW1 works fine before I load all my data in it.

        Reply
        • In this case probably testing without sync won’t be helpful for you. In this case, feel free to sync, but do not create any objects that were impossible to create in MoneyWiz 1 (such as Online Banking accounts, Loan Accounts, account groups etc). This will allow us to revert your account back to MoneyWiz 1 in case you need it. But if you create any MoneyWiz 2 related items (that were not available in MoneyWiz 1), then a revert to MoneyWiz 1 won’t be possible.

        • You can test it for as long as you want…

  • Hi,
Just went to the Play Store (France), and the price shown is €3.25 (= $3.58). Is it more expensive for France or did you get the $2.99 price wrong?

  • All right sounds usual. Wasn’t going to make a scene for 50 cents anyway ahah 🙂

  • Did you forget this?

  • I have already purchased Moneywiz 2 for Android but before you have been running the promotion same for the Mac software. Any plans to provide a part refund?

    • Hi,

MoneyWiz for Mac is distributed via the Mac App Store. All payments are handled by Apple and we (the developers) have 0 control of that. For what it’s worth they just take 30% from us. Also Apple provides no way to developers to issue refunds let alone partial refunds. The only way is to get a full refund if you purchase MoneyWiz in the last 30 days, and that must be a claim you have to file with Apple. I am sorry it’s that complicated, but that’s the reality with Apple. With Google it’s a lot better by the way.

  • Any news about the Money Wiz 2 for Windows?

    • We’re hoping to have public release at the end of October, but it is still unclear, as it’s almost 2 months ahead.
      Beta will start soon though.

      • I want to participate to the beta for windows version. What I have to do?

        • Hi Jaime,

The primary beta list for Windows is now closed as it became too large. You can email our support to be included on the secondary list to which we may or may not distribtue the beta later on…

    • Hi Tom,

Make sure you have a SYNCbits account (if not, create one via Settings / SYNCbits, it’s free). Then delete the beta build of MoneyWiz 2 and install from Google Play.

  • Hi, I upgraded to MoneyWiz 2.0 on my Ipad and now I wanted to do so on my android phone too, but the price in playstore is 5.39 € instead of 2.99 $ (the promotion should end on the 20th). How come?

    • We had a promotion with AppGratis and there was a mixup in the price change scheduling. Apologies for the issue. Feel free to email our support to see how we can help you in this situation.

  • I love the apps but one thing that bugs me is that its not letting me make Loan accounts for my student loans (when I put in all the basic information it goes to Extended.. and everytime I click create it flashes on “Payment Plan” — even though I have aldready put in all the information for that too)

    • Hi Kay,

Probably you haven’t entered something… please contact our support at [email protected] and they will assist you.
On another note, we know that the current layout for setting up a loan account can be confusing at times, and we have it on our to-do list to change it.

  • I liked the features of MoneyWiz, but would have rather seen the accounts laid out in more traditional “ledger” fashion with more of a direct entry for transactions. Having to tap the + button and complete the transaction fields in a separate window felt cumbersome. The interface isn’t a deal breaker and after a few transaction entries, the flow gets smoother.
