MoneyWiz 2 is finally here, with more than 130 new features!
Check out the following pages, we’ve prepared for you:
May I know when will Moneywiz 2 be available for Android? If I purchase moneywiz in google play now, will I be upgraded to moneywiz 2 for free in the future?
MoneyWiz 2 for Android should be available in around 2 months. It will not be a free update though, just like the iOS/Mac versions of MoneyWiz.
Can’t wait for Android version!! 🙂
Dear Iliya, since the upgrade to version 2 the server synchronisation no longer works properly. I can leave it for a full day to sync and then it is still not complete. I have sent messages to the support team, but do not get a response from them. I am now starting to wonder whether this was a good choice. Synching is important as I also use it on my iPhone and iPad.
Apologies for the late reply… we just processed your ticket actually.
This is still a beta version, why should we pay for it? When people wanted to help you, report bugs gave suggestions, you ignored it and released this beta, why?
I know few people who asked for refund, in Europe it is easy now. You should be selling app what works, what does not destroy data. This is a financial app not bloody game for kids.
The version in the AppStore is not a beta… we release beta to small amount of customers, before public release, and when I speak of 2.0.2 beta for example, that doesn’t mean that the beta will be released for all…what will be released for all is 2.0.2 version that has passed our internal tests + the beta tests.
Hi, is there any demo version? I don’t like to buy software without trying it before!
Demo version is coming in around a month from now.
OK, thank you! I will check the site again next month.
More than a month later… still would like to test it out before making the decision.
I have been following this thread on a possible “Demo Version”, any status of when it will be available? It certainly looks like MW2 has what I need, but would like to “test drive” it before I buy.
The Payments services provider that we want to use is delaying the release of their SDK and that’s why we haven’t released a demo yet…
Given the circumstances we plan to release a demo via the AppStore soon though. Hopefully it will be available by the end of the month.
Can I reconcile my bank statement on Moneywiz? Can I set up a loan?
Yes to both. Check Support / Guides section on our website for more info.
When can I use investment accounts? In that version?
We haven’t released investment accounts yet…it will come later this year.
Still no investment accounts? Why doesn’t my paper gold account at HSBC Hong Kong come up automatically as one of my accounts?!
Investment accounts, tags and receipts sync is coming this summer. This is what we’re working on now, it will take some time to finish though.
About your HSBC account – please contact our support so they can help you add it.
What I want to say is that the best of the app is synchronization. It needs some things to be better:
Add investment accounts
Splits with Incomes and Expenses at the same time, With explanations for both.
I like Moneywiz, but I don’t use it, because it’s impossible to splits income and expenses at the same time
We plan to add such feature in the future. As far as I know the only application of this feature is if taxes are automatically deducted from your salary (i.e. you don’t pay them as separate payment) and you want to monitor that. Other than that as far as I know, there are no real life situations where you’d need and income and an expense in the same transaction. Is that correct?
No, there is some situation where you need that
In France, with your salary, you can have expenses :
I see. I didn’t know about this about France… thanks for letting us know.
i bought the MoneyWiz2 app for iOS now. but there is no list about any bank of South Korea. Can you add about that?
if you can do that, i’ll make plan to buy MoneyWiz App for OS X.
Please, request your bank to be added from here:
I upgraded to V2 yesterday on my iMac. The Syncbits conversion worked fine but it took about 8 hours to do it. I had a lot of transactions in multiple accounts. So far, so good, everything is working. I like the new format for entering transactions. If I hit any stumbling blocks when I upgrade my iPad, I’ll post about them.
Any news on the Windows release BETA program, I have some interesting times coming soon and could do with reviewing things with a keyboard and mouse rather than just my phone/tablet? Will it still be possible to run copies of the database off (e.g. copy to Dropbox) and re-import, as I’ve been doing this for “what-if” scenarios on my phone – take a copy, mash my expenses around, review the forecast and replace the database with the backup.
Hopefully in around 3 months from now.
Will there still be the ability to run exports and imports of the database – presumably the Android client could still be used to do this then the windows version just re-syncs against the import, just wondering how much will be “inside” the app without having to use the phone to handle importing and exporting of data.
We don’t have such plans for now, because the database formats are different between iOS, Android and Mac, hence rendering such functionality difficult to implement. Given our excellent SYNCbits solution, it also makes the effort rather useless, hence we don’t plan to do it for now.
There is an export of the database in terms of local backup and restore, but this is not cross-platform compatible. If you export on Mac, you have to restore on Mac for example.
When the new version of Android will be available?
Hopefully by the end of March or sooner. We’re actively working on it, and it’s in its final stages now.
Do you need any beta testers. I’ve been using money wiz 2 on ios. However I have now moved onto an android as my main phone
Hello, I love MoneyWiz and purchase both Mac and Android 1.x, I am going to purchase MoneyWiz 2 for Mac, but wondering can I still use my Android MoneyWiz 1.6 since Android build is not ready yet. Because I know MoneyWiz 2 database is different as 1.x, after I upgrade to 2 from Mac, can I use Android 1.60 sync the database?
This is an excellent question, and thank you for asking it. You should wait until MoneyWiz 2 is released for Android as well, otherwise, as you suggested – the database formats will be different and MoneyWiz 1 for Android will not sync with MoneyWiz 2.
Is this why SyncBit does not seem to working? I can’t seem to get anything to sync to my Samsung Note 3.
SYNCbits is up and operational. Perhaps you are trying to sync between MoneyWiz 1 and MoneyWiz 2? Please e-mail our support and explain the issue so they can help out. Support e-mail is: [email protected]
Hello I was used to work with Moneywiz 1 on Mac and Android device…..I have upgraded the Mac to MW2 and waiting the version 2 on Android……..when will it come?
When the new version (money wiz 2) for Android will be available?
We just started the beta… public release – when the beta proves to be stable enough for public release. Hopefully soon!
I keep seeing bad reviews on the Apple App Store about Moneywiz 2 which is still putting me and many of my family and work colleagues off buying it. Do you have any idea when it will be in a reasonable state to be useable?
While most of the bad reviews are just re-published old reviews without an update, and have no merit as of version 2.0.4, I’d be happy to address any specific concerns you may have. Alternatively you can e-mail our support at [email protected] if you want to ask about specific things.
Is investment account ever going to make to MoneyWiz?
Yes, later this year.
Is it possible to print bank checks?
You can record check #s but printing checks is not currently supported.
There appears to be two apps on the iOS App Store with different colour icons. Are the apps identical?
The functionality and design are identical, but the pricing models are different. More info here:
I am confused about the payments for the two. I don’t use online-banking for paying bills, but I do want to download my transactions from the bank and my cc company every month into my financial program. That would cost $50 on the free version? Can a report be pulled for each category during specific dates? Can I search by category, or amount, or by name to get a report or find a transaction? Thank you.
You can see about the differences between the paid and free/subscription versions of MoneyWiz here:
On your questions:
* If you don’t want MoneyWiz to auto-download your transactions but instead you will import them from a CSV, QIF, OFX or MT940 file, then you don’t need the online banking. If you want MoneyWiz to auto-download your transactions without you doing anything, then you need online banking.
* There is a category report and you can specify which categories it must include. You can search by category, amount etc…we even support smart amount searching like >10, <=5 or even ~20 (~20 would be transactions of value around 20, if you don't remember the exact value).
I’ve purchased the older version of Moneywiz on my iPad. Today I’ve done a clean restoration of the iPad and I’m not able to download the application back onto my iPad. I only found Moneywiz 2 (which I have to repurchase at $4.99) and Moneywiz 2 free (with limited transaction).
I’ve been trying to find out more on your website and found out that purchasing Moneywiz 2 at $4.99 will also allow the user to get automatic upgrade to a newer version (Moneywiz 3). By this, I don’t think it’s fair when the owner of Moneywiz 1 doesn’t get an automatic upgrade to Moneywiz 2 when they also pay for the app. Moreover, I am still ok with using the old app without the additional features, but somehow it is not made available by the developer.
If you want to re-install MW 1, here is how to do it:
Open the App Store on your iPad, then go to the “Purchased” tab and scroll to find MoneyWiz for iPad (that would be MoneyWiz 1). You can re-download it from there.
I am also searching in purchased tab its not there. How do i get the MW1.
If you are using an iPhone it is in the Updates tab, and then on top of it (once you are in the Updates tab) there is “Purchased” button to see all your past purchases.
How late in the year is the investment side coming?
When it does come, will it allow auto download from various investment platforms so uptodate investment valuations are brought through? U.K.
We’ll focus on investment accounts after we release MoneyWiz 2 for Windows. Once we implement them, we’ll also allow online banking for them.
Can I sync my (paid) Android app details to my (free) MoneyWiz 2 app in my MBP? Or syncing only happens for iOS/OSX devices?
Yes you can sync Android with Mac OS… You can sync any number of devices, regardless of OS, as long as MoneyWiz is available for that OS.
I just downloaded a free MoneyWiz 2 App from the App Store of my Macbook. Now, I have no idea what the difference is between the free app and the paid one. What are the limitations for your free app?
The free (subscription based) and the paid version of MoneyWiz are the same in functionality. They only differ in the payment model. You can find out more here:
I don’t seem to find the facility to set exchange rates manually. The rates used by Money wiz 2 don’t correspond to actual rates ( USD,GBP,EUR )
You can’t set exchange rates manually globally…you can do it on per-transaction basis only.
We download the exhange rates from Yahoo Finance. What currencies are you using where the exchange rates are wrong? Are they wrong by much or just a little?
Can I sync my wife’s money wiz with mine?
Yes you can. You both need to be using the same SYNCbits account though. You need to setup the SYNCbits account from the device where you’ve already entered data and then just log in with that account on all other devices (such as your wife’s etc..)
But we will be sharing every account right? Not only the shared account?
Diego, for now, yes, all accounts/budgets are shared if the user has your SYNCbits credentials to Sign In.
Hi, will i be able to sync MoneyWiz2 on Mac/iPad/iPhone with MoneyWiz2 on Android (once it is lunched)?
Are you planning to add the person who made the expense in any of the future updates?
Yes, MoneyWiz on Mac/iOS syncs just fine with MoneyWiz on Android and Windows. It has launched months ago by the way…
As for multiple accounts sharing the same data set – we have it on our todo list and I hope to see it done at some point, but truth of the matter is that it’s not a high priority ticket right now as we have a lot of things to do before we can do this.
Hi, I have MoneyWiz installed on iPad, 2 android phone, syncbit not seems like working this two days. I am currently located in China. IS it possible that syncbit not working in china? But I tried sign out and sign in again, it able to sign me in in china.
We have no restrictions for SYNCbits and China, but I’ve seen cases where the Great Chinese Firewall would sometimes cut connections. If the issue is ongoing please contact our support and they will help you figure out what to do. If you are able to log into SYNCbits it probably means that there is a connection, which is good.
Hello, is a demo version of MoneyWiz 2 available? Many thanks – Best regards. Lukas
Yes, just use the Download button on our website (at the top menu bar). Those are all free to download versions (i.e. demo versions).
she download moneywiz application on her phone, and have money sent to her on moneywiz from Dallas Texas USA
